Yesterday I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot my first engagement party, and to tell the truth I was a little nervous. I have done birthday parties and anniversaries before but I have always held off on doing formal events. There is a lot of pressure to get the right shot, and really only one chance to catch it, that pressure has made me shy away from something like this before. But, I was thrown right in there, and like with school deadlines I might just thrive under pressure!

So congratulations Colin and Jennifer, you were so much fun to work with and I really had a great time. Thank you Cathy for having me and giving me this opportunity I feel confident now I can cover more formal events. Here is a sneak peak at some of the shots from the day. Can't wait to show you the rest.

For Photographer Notes:
Most of these shots were taken with a 85mm f1.8 lens shot wide open (except for the formal posed shots where I shot at f2.2 or smaller) and before I do another event similar to this or even a wedding I plan on investing in a prime 50mm lens. The standard 18-55mm just doesn't do as well indoors and a shorter focal length was definitely needed.
